The Rugby 6 Nations tournament kicked off last weekend and it looks like things are in full swing already. Thanks to our friends from Heavens Game we have all the updates from last weekends game, as we have a great preview of the clash of powerhouses that will take place on Saturday.
So, round 1 is over and the champions have shown their muscle (slightly). But what of the contenders who can complete the Grand Slam?
Even before a ball has been kicked in round 2 we know that the victor in the Wales v England match in Cardiff ends the others Grand Slam hopes. Despite Englands decisive win against The Azzurri you would have to start Wales as comfortable favourites.
Wales outplayed Scotland's much vaunted pack. Whilst the ability to fairly analyse England's performance is hindered by Italy's error strewn attempt at professional international rugby.
Wales now have selection issues of the good variety, Henson in for Shanklin? Probably. Ryan Jones in for Dafydd Jones? Maybe. If Ryan jones is not fully fit you would expect him to start from the bench.
When you look at this England team it is probably going to be a force come the RWC in New Zealand. Wales will be too astute to be beaten in this match up.
There have been many times when Wales have entered a match as favourite and failed magnificently to live up that billing, this Welsh set upp is far too strong to do that and will run out comfortable winners.
The other team left with a show of the Grand Slam is of course Ireland. The Irish should have no problem in putting away The Azzurri however The Italians will be embarrased by their performance at Twickenham and will provide fierce competition on their home ground. I smell an upset in this one.
As for France and Scotland, France will win by a country mile.
