New York Knicks Ready to Create a Dream Team
Thankfully the LeBron James sweepstakes is over, and we know he is heading to Miami where he will team up with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. However, after a bit of research, it's apparent Miami is not the only franchise looking to create a Dream Team. That's right the New York Knicks may have partially missed out on the 2010 free agency market but they have plenty of cap room available in 2011, and that could be just as good.
This time next year Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul will be free agents, and we will see a mini version of the free agent hoopla we experienced this summer. Another familiar emotion we will witness is the friendship of Melo and Paul. Chris Paul performed a toast at Carmelo's wedding this past weekend in NYC. And guess who else was present to witness the numptuals? None other than the Knicks newest big man Amar'e Stoudemiree.
Now it's not uncommon for stars to hangout, it's not everyday you get the stars joking about forming a dream team. During Carmelo Anthony's wedding Saturday night at Cipriani's on 42nd Street, Chris Paul, the superstar New Orleans point guard, predicted a future Knicks Dream Team. [...]
According to a person who spoke with wedding attendee Amar'e Stoudemire(notes), Paul made the reference during a speech of a potential union of himself, Stoudemire and Anthony, saying, "We'll form our own Big 3," Paul allegedly said.
Sure, look at that quote as nothing more than a joke, but remember a year ago this time, we were hearing the same comments coming from Wade, James, and Bosh and look where they ended up at.
On a side note, King LeBron James did see fit to venture out into public and attend the wedding on Saturday. He was promptly booed by 20,000 New York Knick fans. A very fitting greeting for a wedding.
